October is Library Foundation Month!

The fall is a special time for the Fairfax Library Foundation as Fairfax County recognizes October as Library Foundation Month. In the two years since the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors declared October Foundation month, the Foundation has continued its mission to raise supplementary funds for the Fairfax County Public Library. Last year, the Foundation crossed the $10 million donation mark, a huge accomplishment only achieved through the generosity of the library lovers of Fairfax County.

Now October is here, we ask that you continue to keep the Foundation in mind when donating your time and money to the community. Amidst budget cuts and staff reductions, the Foundation will need to rely on the Fairfax County community for support. All donations are welcome and will go toward funding the Library's many educational programs, including:

  • Summer Reading Program

  • Early Literacy Outreach

  • Changing Lives Through Literature

  • The Friends Scholarship Fund

Thank you for your generosity and support. Your donation will make a positive difference in the lives of those who live, work, and study in Fairfax County.

Oh Pooh!

Bobbi Longworth is hard to replace as Executive Director; however this Interim Executive Director is sure to bring in lots of donations at the Silent Auction at the Library Jubilee, September 25 from 5 pm to 8 pm!

A Library Jubilee

The Fairfax Library Foundation is excited to announce that A Library Jubilee is a mere 3 weeks away! The Foundation staff and the event's Chairs, Sally Merten and Sushma Shenoy have been hard at work preparing for an incredible event full of music, food, and great merriment. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Fairfax County Public Libraries. The Foundation would also like to thank the greater Fairfax County community for the many gifts we have received for the event and for the ongoing donations that keep the Foundation and Fairfax Public Libraries thriving.
