Grant seekers now on their own in Fairfax County
Due to Fairfax County Public Library budgetary cuts, the Foundation Center's Grants & Funding Resource Center in Fairfax County has been reduced, as of January 1, 2010, to a self-help access point without a dedicated librarian on staff to assist grant seekers.

Isn't the library here to provide information and answer questions?

Good job, county leadership! You seem to think that libraries do nothing. They support grants, support our children's education - actually they support the LIFE LONG LEARNING of every citizen here. And you think this is the place to cut the budget? There is a lot of research showing that libraries GENERATE value for their communities. What short sighted leadership!

Your staff provided an excellent grants training in October 2009, with the Grants & Funding Research Center available to support what was taught. You have pulled the plug on a valuable resource to the citizens and tax payers of the County, and especially those nonprofit organizations which provide so many community services that you do not. For shame.
